At Home Laser Hair Removal Systems: Do They Work?

By

No matter what the season or the time of year is we are always concerned with the smoothness and aspect of our skin. This is increasingly true as we have more and and more occasions to attend and our bodies need to look perfect each and every time. Several years ago we couldn't conceive any other option than shaving or depilatory creams. Recently electric epilators have become highly accessible and popular, but they are still not a great choice. The main reason for which we usually give up this home based systems is the fact that their results don't last. We prefer to use professional services at a salon and keep the shaving and the creams only as an emergency solution.

However, we all know that in the last couple of years laser and electrolysis methods have become available on the market as well. And the latest discovery of all are the at home laser hair removal systems. But why would you want to go though the trouble of doing it at home? Well, the truth is that professional hair removal is still quite expensive. The two systems which allow you to get rid of the unwanted hair in the intimacy of your own home are Slik'n and Tria.

You might wonder how these systems work anyway. As you might have suspected they are not some heavy machines. They are portable and they are hand-held devices. The basic idea behind their functioning is the same with the one used by professional treatments.  The at home laser hair removal systems simply release a high amount of energy in a very short time. This energy is absorbed by the hair, getting the follicles damaged. This prevents regrowth in about 60% of the hairs. By repeating the procedure over and over again you will end up with less and less body hair. Even is the hair grows back it is usually much thinner and lighter.

If you wonder whether it hurts or not, you should know that it does a little. Most often you will feel a light sting. The efficiency of the treatment is usually at around 55% to 60%, a little less than the professional devices. However the cost is significantly lower – only 650$ to 800$.

Just as a final note, you should know that unlike traditional epilation techniques, by using at home laser hair removal systems you hair will not suddenly vanish, but will usually fall out in a week or so.
